Vice President of Libya’s Presidential Council (PC), Ahmed Maiteeq, said yesterday that the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, fully supports the internationally-backed Government of National Accord (GNA).
Maiteeq made the remarks at the Kuwaiti National Assembly headquarters after his meeting with the Emir. The meeting was attended by Libyan Foreign Minister, Mohammad Al-Tahir Sayala.
“We met with His Highness the Emir and he informed us of his keenness to see stability restored in Libya,” Maiteeq said.

“We explained to his highness about the attack on the capital, Tripoli, which started on 4 April and that it is not possible to treat the aggressor and defender equally,” he added.
Maiteeq expressed hope and confidence in Kuwait’s ability to play an important role in promoting stability in Libya.
Kuwait is a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council and will assume the council’s presidency in June.
On 4 April UAE-backed Libyan strongman, General Khalifa Haftar, launched a military offensive against the capital Tripoli.
