UNRWA’s High Commissioner Pierre Krhenbühl announced yesterday that 500 employees would be issued full-time contracts starting from 1 May until 31 December, Maan reported.

Krhenbühl said he was happy to announced a “series” of measures that would “positively” affect the Palestinian refugees and UNRWA staff, noting that these measures came as a result of strong coordination among UNRWA teams.

He said 400 cleaners were recruited in the different UNRWA regions in order to maintain the cleanliness of refugee camps during the holy month of Ramadan.

The High Commissioner also announced the start of a Ramadan donation campaign through social media to collect funds for education, as well as food during Ramadan.
