Iraq yesterday condemned the Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip and called for the UN to immediately interfere to stop the Israeli aggression, Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper reported.

Spokesman of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry Ahmad Al-Sahhaf called for the Arab League and member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to hold a meeting to discuss the repercussions of the two-day strike, which resulted in the death of 27 Palestinians and wounded 156 others.

Of those killed, two were babies, and two were expectant mothers.

Only Iraq and Kuwait have thus far condemned Israel’s attack on the besieged Gaza Strip.
