Lebanese central bank workers decided to suspend their strike today until Friday when they will meet to decide whether to halt or resume the walkout, Reuters reported their syndicate chief saying.

Central bank workers went on strike yesterday in protest against proposals in the draft state budget that would reduce their pay.

Trading on the Beirut Stock Exchange was suspended as a result as clearance and settlement processes could not be carried out on time due to the strike.

It warned yesterday that if the strike was lifted today trade would resume as usual tomorrow. “Certainly today there is no trade,” the source said.
