Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said yesterday that the Russian president did not receive any assurances from the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo regarding Iran, Anadolu reported.

“So far we notice the continued escalation of tensions around this subject,” Peskov said, a day after Pompeo met with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“We are saddened to see the decisions taken by the Iranian side,” he said, but he argued that these were provoked by Washington.

He added: “There were no assurances from Pompeo… And one can hardly talk about some sort of assurances. There is an obvious situation which unfortunately tends to escalate further.”
