Saudi security services have arrested male hairdressers for cutting a woman’s hair in the capital, Riyadh, Okaz newspaper reported.

Social media users circulated a video of a young man saying that he was surprised to see a woman sitting next to him in a men-only barbershop in Riyadh, without specifying the name of the store.

The paper said the local security services were able to locate the hairdressers, arresting the workers to investigate them before referring them to the competent authorities.

The video clip sparked controversy on social media amid calls to allow mixed hairdressers in the kingdom. Meanwhile; other social media users condemned the woman’s behaviour saying it offends modesty and social norms.
