Unknown persons burn Iraq protesters’ sit-in tents in Baghdad, Nasiriyah

Unidentified persons set fire to the tents of Iraqi protesters sit-in in the capital, Baghdad, and the city of Nasiriyah; in what appear to be coordinated attacks against the protesters.

Unidentified persons threw a sound bomb at the tent of civil activist Alaa Al-Rikabi in Nasiriyah setting it ablaze. No injuries were reported.

In Baghdad, unidentified persons burned three protest tents without causing casualties.

Despite the escalation of attacks by unknown gunmen against the protesters, sit-ins around the country have witnessed an escalation in protests.

Protesters have rejected the appointment of former Communications Minister, Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi, as prime minister tasked with forming the next government.
