Ali Akbar Velayati, senior foreign policy adviser to Iranian leader Ali Khamenei, said on Saturday that the American era in the region, especially in Syria and Iraq, has come to an end; the Tasnim news agency reported.

Speaking at a ceremony commemorating the 40th day after the assassination of former Quds Force Commander, General Qassem Soleimani, Velayati said thanks to Soleimani’s death US forces will be expelled from the region “soon”; and then from Afghanistan.

The United States assassinated Soleimani last month shortly after arriving in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, in a drone attack.
