Hamas calls on Abbas to take practical measures against Trump’s deal

February 12, 2020 at 11:25 am

The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, called yesterday for Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to take practical measures on the ground against Donald Trump’s so-called peace plan.

“Abbas has to delegitimise the Israeli occupation, announce the dissolution of the Oslo Accords, end security cooperation with the occupation, release the reins on Palestinian resistance and allow the Palestinians in the occupied West Bank to express their rage against the deal,” insisted Hamas Spokesman Fawzi Barhoum. “Abbas’s comments [about the “deal of the century”] must be turned to actions.”

Barhoum also called for Abbas to let the Palestinians in the occupied West Bank to choose whatever form of resistance against the Israeli occupation that they feel appropriate, not to deter and arrest them.

The Hamas official added that Abbas should respond to the national calls for an urgent conference for all Palestinian factions and politicians to agree on a unified strategy to counter the “peace plan”.
