The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights revealed on Tuesday that Russian jet fighters have carried out more than 120 air strikes against Aleppo in just one week, Egypt’s Youm 7 newspaper has reported.

The rights group also said that Syrian regime forces have widened their operations in the rural areas surrounding the city. The regime forces, the group explained, fired rockets towards several areas targeted by the Russian jets.

According to Youm 7, the Syrian regime has expanded its operations in Aleppo, taking several villages around the city after forcing the Levant Liberation Committee and other opposition groups out of the area.

At least 13 villages are now controlled by regime forces backed by the Russian air force. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights pointed out that they now have almost complete control over the city of Aleppo.
