Four civilians were killed and several others were wounded in an attack by gunmen affiliated with Daesh in the Iraqi governorate of Kirkuk, Anadolu news agency.

The agency quoted an officer in Kirkuk police, Hamid Al-Ubaidi, as saying that “Daesh militants have attacked with machine guns the village of Jaghmagha near the Dibis district, south of Kirkuk governorate, and killed four civilians.”

Al-Ubaidi explained that the militants fled the scene to an unknown destination after the attack.

For its part, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan in the Iraqi Parliament announced that seven Kurds were killed and wounded in the attack in Kirkuk and called for a review of the number of security forces present in “fragile areas”, holding the federal government responsible for the incident.

“We have repeatedly called for a solution to the repeated security breaches, and we warned against not taking serious measures on the security file in the province, but our calls have not been responded to,” it said in a statement.
