Iran MP: Unknown virus is spreading in the country

An unknown virus is spreading in Iran, MP and Member of National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Parliament, Shahruz Berzagar, said yesterday..

Berzagar accused the United States of causing the outbreak of the unknown virus, Anadolu reported.

He said that the source of this virus is still unknown. "I think this is the biological terror virus which is being spread by the US in Iran," he said.

Iran is one of the countries which has been largely affected by the coronavirus, with high profile officials infected and the death of the deputy president and other MPs.

As part of its fight against the coronavirus, Iran suspended universities and schools, as well as it cancelling sports and arts events.

Iran has reported 43 new deaths related to the coronavirus disease in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of those killed by the virus to 237 while 7,161 people have been infected across the country since mid-February. The real figures are believed to be far higher.
