Sudan blows up 300,000 illegal weapons in a single explosion

The Sudanese army blew up 300,000 illegal weapons in a single explosion on Tuesday as it launched a disarmament campaign to seize all illegal firearms used during decades of civil war, Al Arabiya reported.”

Our country has suffered enough,” Sudanese Lieutenant General Ibrahim Jaber said. “Strict measures that prevent weapon possession have been put in place and only regular forces now carry them.”

The destruction of illicit arms comes after the Sudanese government reached a deal with rebel groups in August to end the fighting and allow them to assume government positions.
