The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas on Tuesday renewed its call on Saudi Arabia to release Palestinian prisoners inside its jails after the grave deterioration of their health conditions.

Naming former Hamas representative to the kingdom Dr Mohammed Al-Khudari, Member of Hamas Political Bureau Mousa Abu Marzouq tweeted: “Dr Mohammed Al-Khudari, 83, is in critical health.”

Abu Marzouq added: “He [Al-Khudari] is being held without charge, along with his son and other Palestinians.”

The senior Hamas leader called on the Saudi authorities: “To release them immediately, taking into account their humanitarian situation.”

Al-Khudari was detained on 4 April, 2019, along with his son Hani as part of a large-scale campaign targeting Palestinians.

His health has deteriorated due to the lack of adequate healthcare inside his prison. He partially lost the ability to move his right hand and is currently relying on his son to feed and help him.

Amnesty International confirmed that Al-Khudari and his son Hani were brought before the Specialised Criminal Court a year after their arrest: “In a collective trial that was marred by gross violations of legal procedures, including being denied access to a lawyer during this period.”

Amnesty International added that Al-Khudari was undergoing cancer treatment when he was arrested.
