A Turkish soldier died and four others were wounded in an attack on a supply convoy in northern Syria, Turkey’s National Defence Ministry announced in a statement yesterday.
“In the Operation Spring Shield zone, one of our hero fellow soldiers was martyred and four of our heroic fellow soldiers were injured in the rocket attack on our supply convoy on May 10, 2021,” the ministry said on Twitter.
The injured were transferred to the hospital.
Turkey announced the launch of Operation Spring Shield on 1 March. It has been carrying out a number of counter-terrorism military operations against what it says are elements of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in northern Iraq and Syria, including ‘Operation Euphrates Shield’ in 2016, ‘Operation Olive Branch‘ in 2018, and ‘Operation Peace Spring’ 2019.
