Egypt’s Ministry of Health has warned citizens over the rising number of coronavirus infections as a result of “public gatherings”.

The ministry appealed to citizens not to remove masks in crowded spaces and public gatherings and to maintain at least a one-meter distance from one another.

It also called on citizens to maintain a healthy lifestyle including exercise, eating well, and maintaining mental health to reduce the risk of infection.

The ministry added that it continues to maintain the highest levels of preparedness in all hospitals, to deal with the pandemic.

Egypt has registered 247,000 COVID-19 infections including 14,388 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University data.
