Abdul Razzaq Muqri, head of the Algerian Movement for a Society of Peace (MSP), said yesterday that if his party wins the upcoming legislative elections and leads the next government, a percentage from the salaries of the country’s top officials will be deducted to help tackle the economic crisis facing the country.

During a press conference to launch the party’s manifesto, Muqri stressed that solving the urgent problems of society requires officials to contribute with significant sums from their salaries for a sufficient period of time.

The MSP leader explained that the state cannot ask the citizens to comply with austerity measures without the contributions of officials, and this will enable authorities to restore citizens’ trust.

Muqri stressed that among the most important endeavours of the MSP is the release of all political prisoners, in addition to guaranteeing the right to establishing associations and parties for all Algerians who wish to engage in politics.
