Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman yesterday met with British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab in the city of Neom, northwest of Saudi Arabia, the SPA news agency reported.

Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal Bin Farhan also attended the meeting which was held in the kingdom’s futuristic city, which is part of the kingdom’s Vision 2030.

The two sides have discussed the latest developments in the Middle East and efforts to enhance regional security and stability as well as “bilateral relations and aspects of joint cooperation in various fields”, SPA said.

Last February, Britain announced the appointment of Edward Lister as special envoy for the Gulf region in a move that aimed to strengthen London’s relations with Gulf countries after its exit from the European Union. However, Lister quit his post in April.

According to press reports, Saudi Arabia’s arms purchases represented about 43 per cent of the total British weapons sales over the last decade.
