The prime minister of the Palestinian Authority called on Monday for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to add Israel to the “list of shame” over its violations of children’s rights, Anadolu has reported.

Mohammad Shtayyeh told his weekly Cabinet meeting in the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah that Israel had killed many Palestinian children during the past two months alone.

“Indeed, Israel has never stopped killing our children,” said Shtayyeh. He pointed out that the latest victim was a 16-year-old boy killed by the Israeli army on 17 June. “Israel must be held accountable for its crimes.”

A truce brokered last month by some Arab countries and the UN, and backed by the US, ended 11 days of the latest Israeli military offensive on the Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip. At least 260 people, including 16 women and 66 children, were killed. A further 29 Palestinians were killed by the Israelis in the occupied West Bank.
