Hamas said yesterday that Israeli attacks on Gaza prove the occupation’s political “bankruptcy”.

In a statement, Hamas official Ismail Ridwan said: “The Israeli strikes prove the confusion and failure of the Israeli occupation compared to the steadfastness and resilience of the Palestinian people.”

“Our people and our resistance are up to the challenge and are able to undermine the Israeli occupation’s plans.”

He stressed: “We will continue and airstrikes will embolden our persistence to extract our rights.”

Israeli warplanes last night carried out airstrikes in several sites across the Gaza Strip, local security sources said. No casualties were reported but Palestinian farmers said their land was left damaged.
