A senior Hezbollah official has denied reports that a meeting took place between Egyptian Intelligence Chief Abbas Kamer and officials of the Lebanese movement, Al Mayadeen TV reported yesterday.

“The news is completely untrue; the head of Egyptian intelligence did not visit the southern suburbs of Beirut,” the official said, adding that Major General Abbas Kamel did not meet with any Hezbollah official.

This came following a report published by Intelligence Online claiming that Kamel had visited the southern suburb of Beirut and met a high-ranking delegation from Hezbollah on 10 July and 12 August.

Al Mayadeen said that the report claimed that the meetings aimed to help ease the situation in the Gaza Strip on the basis “of full coordination between the resistance in Lebanon and resistance in Gaza.”
