The Israeli army announced today that it had stopped an attempt to smuggle weapons across the border with Jordan, Arab48 reports.
Army spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, said: "The army forces thwarted an attempt to smuggle weapons into Israel in the Jordan Valley area."

Adding that "the army's surveys monitored during the hours of last night, a number of suspects trying to smuggle weapons."
Twenty-three weapons were found, the report added. No information was given about any arrests made during the operation.
"Israel will use all the means at its disposal to eradicate the possession and trade of illegal weapons and will bring to justice those involved," it is also stated.
