Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid will visit Bahrain tomorrow to inaugurate the Israeli Embassy in Manama.

“Invited by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Foreign Minister Yair Lapid will arrive in Bahrain on Thursday on the first official visit of an Israeli minister,” the Israeli Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The ministry said Lapid “will inaugurate the Israeli Embassy in Manama, and sign a series of bilateral agreements.”

On 14 September, Bahrain’s Ambassador to Tel Aviv, Khaled Al-Jalahma, presented his credentials to Israeli President Isaac Herzog. This came a year after Israel and Bahrain signed a US-sponsored agreement to normalise relations. The move was condemned by many people in the region, including Iran and its allies.
