Extremist Israeli Jewish settlers yesterday attacked Palestinian farmers picking up olives from their farms in the village of Deir Al-Hatab, east of the occupied West Bank city of Nablus.
The Wafa news agency reported the village Mayor Abdelkarim Hasan saying that a group of settlers descended from the illegal Jewish-only settlement of Elon Morei and attacked the Palestinian farmers while they were olives.
Meanwhile, scores of settlers stole olives belonging to Palestinian farmers in Khirbat Yanun, southeast of the city of Nablus.
This week, the West Bank witnessed a wave of Israeli settler attacks as Palestinian farmers as the olive harvest season began.
The attacks included cutting and setting fire to olive trees in various areas across the occupied Palestinian West Bank.
Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation forces contributed to sabotaging the Palestinian olive harvest season by preventing farmers from reaching their land near illegal settlements or beyond the illegal Separation Wall.
The olive harvest is one of the most important seasons for thousands of Palestinian households in the occupied territories whose incomes depend heavily on this trade.
