The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday accused Israel of replacing the two-state solution with an apartheid system by increasing the number of violations committed by its forces against Palestinians and protecting Jewish settlers.

The ministry affirmed in a statement that the Israeli government bears full and direct responsibility for the attacks, violations and crimes committed by the occupation forces and settlers, adding that these attacks are “an explicit invitation to chaos and a new cycle of violence as part of an official Israeli decision to replace the two-state solution with an apartheid system”.

“This system is being deepened on a daily basis before the international community’s eyes,” the statement said, adding that the settlers’ daily attacks constitute “the most prominent tool in perpetuating the occupation and annexing the occupied West Bank.”

The ministry condemned in the strongest terms the settlers’ continuous attacks on Palestinian citizens and their property, the most recent of which are the series of attacks against olive pickers throughout the West Bank.

The ministry called on the international community and the US administration to “exert sufficient efforts to provide protection for the Palestinian people and to implement the international will for peace, which is represented by international resolutions”.
