Members of the General Shura Council of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood Abroad renewed their “pledge of allegiance” to the General Guide, his deputy and acting director, Ibrahim Mounir, announcing the dismissal of the Muslim Brotherhood’s media spokesman, Talaat Fahmy.

In an internal statement issued yesterday and seen by Arabi21, the Shura Council members said: “We all affirm our loyalty to the charge d’affaires as a representative of the General Guide, as well as our commitment to implementing the decisions of the Supreme Administrative Board as long as they are at the head of the Brotherhood’s institutions.”

It added: “The only existing institution in accordance with the Brotherhood’s general list is the (General Guide) foundation, which is now represented by Chargé d’Affaires, Ibrahim Mounir, who is the only spokesman for the group.”

A new spokesperson is expected to be appointed.
