The Sheraton Hotel, one of the landmark structures of Qatar’s capital, Doha, was illuminated in the colours of the Turkish flag Thursday as 29 October marks the 98th anniversary of the Turkish Republic.

The Turkish Embassy in Doha also shared a photo from the iconic building’s exterior on Twitter.

Republic Day is a Turkish public holiday commemorating the proclamation of the Republic of Turkey on 29 October, 1923, by its founder, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.

Turkey’s Republic Day was celebrated Wednesday at a reception at its Doha embassy.
