Israel warns Hamas 'not to escalate the situation in Gaza'

Israeli occupation authorities have sent a warning message to Hamas through the Egyptian mediators, Sama news agency reported yesterday.

This came following Israel’s interception of a Palestinian drone flown over the Mediterranean earlier in the day, which Israel believes was being guided by Hamas.

Israeli Army Radio was reported by Sama saying that the Palestinian drone violated Israeli airspace so it was downed. Israel then warned Hamas “not to escalate the situation in the Gaza Strip”, fearful that the resistance movement would respond to the destruction of its machinery.

The Israeli army believes the drone was not armed and it had not planned to carry out an attack but was part of a training mission.
