Morocco is preparing to establish two units to manufacture drones using Israeli technologies in the country, local media reported.
Israel24 news site quoted Moroccan media outlets as saying that a Moroccan-Israeli committee will be tasked in the coming months to study the project, taking into account areas with the necessary infrastructure including ports and airports as well as security.
Last Wednesday, Morocco and Israel signed an unprecedented security cooperation agreement in the region during a visit by Israeli Defence Minister Benny Gantz to Rabat.
The agreement outlines security cooperation between the two countries “in all its forms” in the face of “regional threats and challenges”.
According to Israeli reports, the Kingdom of Morocco has embarked on very advanced discussions with Israeli companies on numerous issues including the transfer of technology to develop and manufacture specific types of drones locally, in addition to purchasing the Israeli Barak 8 air defence system, studying the possibility of developing F5 fighters and purchasing multiple drones.
