A Jordanian delegation arrived in the southern Israeli city of Eilat yesterday to participate in a Jordanian-Israeli conference, Kan 11 reported.
The Israeli channel said the conference, which will be attended by officials from the Eilat Municipality and the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, aims to renew and activate annexes within the Wadi Araba Agreement related to strengthening local cooperation in the Aqaba, Eilat and Wadi Araba regions.
The Israeli channel considered the meeting “another indication of the warmth of relations between the two sides, which in recent months have signed several cooperation agreements in the fields of water and agriculture, and the promotion of trade exchange between Jordan and the Palestinian Authority.”
The channel noted that the meeting is taking place in light of “recent tensions in the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood” in the occupied city of Jerusalem, which were condemned by Jordan.
Last January, Jordan’s King Abdullah II received Israeli Defence Minister Benny Gantz and discussed “ways to enhance security and stability in the region”.
