Jewish settlers seized a Palestinian house in the Old City of Hebron yesterday under the protection of Israeli occupation forces, the Palestinian Information Centre reported.

Local sources said that dozens of settlers broke into the home of the Jraiwi family near Qaitoun mosque in downtown Hebron accompanied by heavily armed occupation soldiers.

“What is happening today is another seizure of another home in the Qaitoun neighbourhood, which is in the south-west of the Old City. This is in order to take control of the Old City as a whole through the geographic locations of the buildings they control, and with that make the lives of the [Palestinian] residents difficult in order to drive them out of the city and take over,” Emad Hamdan, the head of the Hebron Reconstruction Committee, said.

Palestinians in the Old City of Hebron are harassed daily by illegal settlers and occupation soldiers who aim to force them out of their homes in order to establish Jewish-only settlements in the area.
