Turkiye announced that the country supports Libya’s Tripoli forces, amid deadly battles after the clashes on Friday took place in Warshafala, a district west of Tripoli, local Turkish media reports.

According to the report, on 1 September, Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu, Defence Minister, Hulusi Akar and spy chief, Hakan Fidan met with two rival Libyan premiers, Fathi Bashagha and Abdul Hamid Dbeibah.

The meetings came after deadly clashes between the rival forces rattled Tripoli last week, leaving 32 people dead and more than 150 wounded.

Last month, Cemalettin Celik, deputy Head of Turkiye’s National Intelligence Agency, who travelled to the war-torn country, warned the rival Libyan military actors and called on the rival parties to support the Tripoli-based government in a bid to hold parliamentary and presidential elections.
