Sweden to organise donor conference in Brussels for Turkiye

Sweden, the current President of the European Union (EU), is set to organise a donor conference in Brussels on 16 March to mobilise support from the international community for the victims of the earthquake in Turkiye and Syria, Foreign Minister Tobias Billstrom said Monday, local Turkish media reports.

According to the report, the conference, which was previously announced as scheduled for early March, will coordinate with the EU Commission and aim to mitigate the “horrible” consequences of the disaster “as much as possible”.

“Sweden wants to do whatever it can regarding the devastating earthquake,” Billstrom told reporters, ahead of the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting.
