The Eighth Brigade of the Russian-backed Fifth Corps has reportedly killed two people in Daraa Governorate, in southern Syria, the Ahrar Houran Gathering said.

The group of journalists and activists confirmed the death of Musa Al-Yateem Al-Miqdad and his son, Mahmoud, at the hands of members of the Eighth Brigade in the city of Busra Al-Sham, during an attempt to arrest Mahmoud.

The Eighth Brigade bombed the clothing shop where the father and son worked with RBG shells, wounding them and then killing the two men, the Ahrar Houran Gathering said.

“Clashes began after members of the brigade tried to arrest Mahmoud while the father, in an attempt to protect his son, pointed a knife at the militants,” the activists said, noting that three militants were injured in the clashes.

The main cause of the dispute was a quarrel that had erupted between Musa’s other son, Muhannad Al-Yateem, and Saleh Al-Issa, a brother of the Eighth Brigade’s leader.

Earlier this month, the Eighth Brigade arrested Shadi Al-Ghawi Al-Miqdad and is still detaining him without explaining the reasons for his arrest.
