After a glass door of a kosher restaurant was smashed in the Golders Green area of north London on Monday, London Mayor, Sadiq Khan said: “There is no tolerance for hate in our city.”, Anadolu Agency reports.

Quoting a British Jewish news portal’s post on X, Khan said: “I remain in close contact with the Met Police. Whoever did this will face the full force of the law. I stand with Jewish Londoners, today and always.”

Khan later visited the Princes Road Synagogue for an “interfaith breakfast” attended by members of the Jewish Labour Movement.

British politicians from many spectrums have been vocal on their strong support to Israel and Jews, drawing criticism from the public who took to the streets over the weekend, demanding the UK not support Israel’s occupation.

The Gaza-based resistance group, Hamas, launched Operation Al-Aqsa Flood against Israel early Saturday, firing a barrage of rockets. It said the surprise attack was in response to the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque in Occupied East Jerusalem and increased illegal settler violence.

In retaliation, the Israeli army launched Operation Swords of Iron against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, killing at least 508 Palestinians and wounding 2,800 others, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

More than 800 Israelis have been killed and over 2,300 others wounded in the fighting, according to media reports and the Israeli Health Ministry.
