The Kuwaiti Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs has instructed imams and preachers to pray for the people of Palestine in light of the Israeli aggression on the besieged Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories.

The office of the Assistant Undersecretary for Mosque Affairs, Badr Al-Otaibi, issued a circular yesterday in which it reiterated the great significance of Al-Aqsa Mosque for Muslims, adding that in light of the ongoing Israeli violations of the mosque’s sanctity and the escalation against the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories, the ministry calls on imams and preachers to pray for the brotherly Palestinian people.

Earlier on Saturday, the State of Kuwait expressed its “deep concern” about the recent escalation against the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories, which it said “came as a result of the continued violations and blatant attacks committed by the Israeli occupation authorities against the brotherly Palestinian people.”

The statement stressed Kuwait’s “firm and principled position in standing by the brotherly Palestinian people and supporting them until they obtain their full rights, the most important of which is their independent State on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.”
