The French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin yesterday ordered a ban on pro-Palestinian demonstrations saying “they are likely to generate disturbances to public order”.
Darmanin issued these instructions to local authorities in a statement that was made available to Agence France-Presse (AFP). The ministry said that if this ban is violated, organisers of the demonstration and “rioters” will be arrested.
This decision comes after several pro-Palestinian demonstrations took place in France.
In the UK, the Foreign Secretary James Cleverly said there is “no necessity” for people to come out and protest as it causes distress to the Jewish community, urging pro-Palestinian protesters “just to pause”.
'These protests are causing huge amount of distress for the people in the Jewish community'.
