Saudi Crown Prince, Mohammed Bin Salman, confirmed on Wednesday evening that targeting civilians in Gaza is a heinous crime and a brutal assault, according to reports by the Saudi Press Agency, SPA.

The Agency reported that the Saudi Crown Prince received a phone call from Japanese Prime Minister, Fumio Kishida, noting that “during the call, they discussed the ongoing military escalation in Gaza.”

The Agency reported that Prince Mohammed Bin Salman

emphasised that the Kingdom considers targeting civilians in Gaza as a heinous crime and a brutal assault, stressing the necessity of providing protection to them

SPA also reported that “the Crown Prince also emphasised the importance of enhancing efforts to halt military operations and de-escalate the situation to avoid its serious implications on regional and global security, peace and stability.”

In this context, Prince Mohammed Bin Salman received another phone call from Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis. During the call, they discussed the military escalation currently taking place in Gaza.

According to SPA, during the call, the Crown Prince

emphasised the need to make all possible efforts to reduce the pace of escalation and ensure that violence does not expand to avoid its dangerous repercussions on security and peace in the region and the world

He also “pointed out the importance of creating circumstances for the return of stability and restoring the path of peace to ensure that the Palestinian people obtain their legitimate rights.”

The number of martyrs in the Gaza Strip rose to more than 3,000, and thousands of others injured, amid a shortage of medicine and medical supplies in hospitals.

On the Israeli side, the number of deaths reached about 1,400, including 220 officers and soldiers.

Saudi Arabia, which chairs the current session of the Islamic Summit and the Executive Committee of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), had called for an urgent extraordinary meeting of the Executive Committee at the ministerial level, to discuss the military escalation in Gaza and its surroundings and the worsening conditions that threaten civilians and the security and stability of the region.
