Turkiye is in the process of establishing two field hospitals in Egypt to treat the wounded coming from the Gaza Strip, Selami Kilic, the Turkish Ministry of Health’s Director-General for EU and Foreign Affairs said on Monday.

In an interview with Anadolu Agency, Selami Kilic stated that Turkish Health Minister, Fahrettin Koca, is communicating with international organisations, including the World Health Organisation, to provide aid to Gaza.

He emphasised that the Turkish aid intended for Gaza was successfully delivered to the Al-Arish Airport in Egypt due to the close cooperation shown by the Cairo authorities and the continued coordination between the Turkish and Egyptian health ministers.

The Health Ministry official stated that the Turkish relief teams are “the only ones that have arrived so far in the field,” due to the failure of other international institutions and organisations to obtain the necessary approvals.

They planned to visit the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and Gaza to survey the area before constructing a Turkish field hospital adjacent to it, according to Kilic.

He explained that they are also planning to establish a second field hospital at the Egyptian Al-Arish Airport, and both field hospitals will be dedicated to treating the wounded and injured coming from the Gaza Strip.
