Amid the ongoing Israeli onslaught against Gaza, a convoy of 10 trucks carrying relief and medical supplies crossed into Gaza through the Rafah border crossing on Friday, Anadolu Agency reports.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society, in a statement, announced that it received the 10 trucks at the crossing. It specified that six of the trucks were handed over to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Gaza, while the remaining four trucks were sent from the Egyptian Red Crescent Society.

The statement said that the Egyptian Red Crescent trucks are transporting food items, medicines and medical supplies.

The Palestinian Red Crescent noted that the total number of trucks entering Gaza since the outbreak of the fighting on 7 October is 84, but no fuel quantities have been allowed into Gaza, so far, urgently needed for generating electricity in Gaza hospitals.

The conflict in Gaza began when the Palestinian group, Hamas, initiated Operation Al-Aqsa Flood – a multi-pronged surprise attack on 7 October that included a barrage of rocket launches and infiltrations into Israel by land, sea and air.

Hamas said the incursion was in retaliation for the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and growing violence by Israeli settlers against Palestinians.

The Israeli military then launched a relentless bombardment of Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip.

Nearly 8,800 people have been killed in the conflict, including at least 7,326 Palestinians and 1,400 Israelis.
