Lebanon’s caretaker Defence Minister, Maurice Slim, on Sunday slammed Israel’s targeting of a civilian car in southern Lebanon, killing three young girls and stressed that condemning the massacres committed by the Israeli enemy against innocent people in Lebanon and Palestine is “no longer sufficient”, Quds Press reported yesterday.
“The aggressive Israeli practices have exceeded all rules and customs, in addition to their flagrant violation of international agreements and covenants, especially in cases of war,” he said in a statement, considering that what is necessary at this time is for “the Arab and international positions to be practical, decisive and deterrent that restrain the enemy and put an end to its crimes, especially those committed against civilians, children and women, the most recent of which was yesterday in the south [of Lebanon].”
He also said Israeli attacks and killing of people in their homes and on the roads cannot continue without accountability, as they constitute a targeting of Lebanese national sovereignty on the one hand, and are a violation of international resolutions on the other hand, as well as being a direct threat to peace.
