The campus of Birzeit University in the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah has been raided by Israeli occupation forces, Wafa news agency has reported.
According to local sources, the Israeli soldiers forced the university guards to allow access to six military vehicles that entered the campus after storming Birzeit itself, where soldiers shot a young Palestinian man. The sources said that he was wounded severely by live ammunition.
Tension has been running high across the West Bank amid the massive Israeli military offensive against the Palestinians in the blockaded Gaza Strip.
Birzeit University Council decided to switch to e-learning last month following the escalating attacks by the Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank. Moreover, the Israeli authorities began blocking roads and imposing further harassment at the military checkpoints as a collective punishment of the Palestinians.
At least 160 Palestinians have been killed and 2,300 others have been detained by the Israeli army since 7 October, the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced yesterday.
As the Israeli army expands its air and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip, the ministry announced that the occupation state has killed more than 10,300 Palestinians, most of them children and women, since 7 October. Just under 1,600 Israelis have been killed in the same period.
