The Palestinian presidency yesterday welcomed China’s demand for joint efforts to enable the State of Palestine to impose its jurisdiction and rule over Palestinian land in the West Bank, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem, Anadolu reported.

This came in a statement published by the Palestinian official news agency, Wafa, which said: “The Palestinian presidency welcomes the statements issued by the Republic of China through its foreign minister, which are completely consistent with the Palestinian position and international legitimacy, in which he called for a quick ceasefire and the entry of humanitarian aid [in Gaza].”

It praised “China’s efforts to help the State of Palestine obtain its full membership in the United Nations, and to hold an international peace conference to implement the two-state solution, which will lead to ending the [Israeli] occupation and embodying the establishment of the Palestinian state.”

Earlier yesterday Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, announced that the Palestinian factions had agreed in Beijing to form an interim national reconciliation government focused on governing the Gaza Strip after the war.

Wang stressed that China will continue to work and make efforts with all parties concerned regarding Palestinian national unity based on internal reconciliation.

He added that Beijing “supports Palestine to become a full member of the United Nations and begin implementing the two-state solution.”

“A more important, more mandatory, and more effective international peace conference should be supported, as well as setting a timetable and roadmap to achieve this,” he continued.

Israel has killed more than 39,000 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip since October 2023,, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing amid massive destruction and deadly famine.
