Israeli occupation forces today destroyed and confiscated multiple tents in the village of Birin, located east of occupied Hebron, reported Wafa news agency.
Farid Burqan, the head of the Birin village council, reported that the occupation forces raided the village, dismantling and seizing tents that provided shelter for more than ten Palestinian families.
These families had been living in the tents after their homes were demolished by the occupation forces early last month. On 4 July, the occupation forces demolished ten homes in Birin, displacing more than 34 people and leaving them with no option but to set up tents for shelter.
According to Wafa, Birin’s residents were originally expelled from the Naqab (Negev) Desert in southern occupied Palestine and now depend on agriculture and livestock as their main source of livelihood.
Human rights reports have warned of a dangerous escalation in the policy of home demolition carried out by the occupation in the West Bank, in order to displace Palestinians and expel them from their lands.
The Palestinian Information Centre revealed last week that Israeli occupation forces have demolished at least 765 Palestinian homes and facilities in the occupied West Bank since 7 October.
Of those, 387 Palestinian homes were razed in Nablus alone, 49 in July. While in occupied East Jerusalem, 95 homes and facilities were demolished, 41 of which were inhabited homes and 25 were uninhabited.
In Hebron, which is the location of a large number of settler attacks on Palestinians, 76 homes and facilities were destroyed, including 48 inhabited homes and 11 uninhabited homes.
The centre also indicated that the demolitions affected 44 homes and facilities in Jenin, 41 in Bethlehem, 40 in Jericho and the Jordan Valley, 32 in Tulkarm, 26 in Qalqilya, 15 in Ramallah, and nine homes in Salfit.
