The number of detainees held by Israel in the occupied West Bank, including Jerusalem, has risen to 10,000 since 7 October, including those who were released after being arrested.
This follows the arrest of at least 26 Palestinians by the Israeli occupation army on Tuesday evening, according to a joint statement from the Commission of Detainees’ Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club.
The rights groups said: “The occupation forces arrested at least 26 citizens from the West Bank Tuesday evening and early Wednesday morning, bringing the total number of arrests since 7 October to approximately 10,000.”
They noted that these figures do not include detainees from the Gaza Strip, whose numbers are estimated to be in the thousands.
In parallel with its destructive war on Gaza, ongoing since 7 October, the occupation army has expanded its operations in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, killing at least 620 Palestinians and injuring approximately 5,400 others, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
