The UN’s special rapporteur on Palestine has accused the US of increasing its funding for Israel’s genocide in the besieged Gaza Strip at a time when occupation forces are using “ever more lethal bombs”.
Taking to X yesterday, a day after Israel hit a school in Gaza City and killed more than 100 Palestinians as they performed morning prayers, Francesca Albanese said: “US funding of Israeli #Genocide is ballooning as the Israeli army uses ever more lethal bombs. The ones used yesterday in the #AlTabinSchool massacre sliced bodies to the point of making them unrecognizable. They are now identified by weight: 70kg bag = 1 adult. Revolting.”

On Saturday, Albanese described Gaza as “the largest and most shameful concentration camp of the 21st century.” “Israel is genociding the Palestinians one neighbourhood at the time, one hospital at the time, one school at the time, one refugee camp at the time, one ‘safe zone’ at the time,” Albanese wrote on X.

“May the Palestinians forgive us for our collective inability to protect them, honouring the most basic meaning of [international] law,” she added. Israel’s attack came just hours after news that the US is preparing to give $3.5 billion to Tel Aviv to purchase American weapons and military equipment from a $14.1 billion supplemental bill approved by Congress in April.
