A number of Palestinians wounded by the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and their companions arrived in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, on Friday, to receive treatment. They came from Egypt, where Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim implemented the initiative to receive the wounded from Gaza.
Two Malaysian Air Force planes arrived at the air base in the capital carrying 41 wounded and 86 companions from the Gaza Strip. They were received by Malaysian Defence Minister Muhammad Khalid Nooruddin and several Malaysian civilian and military officials, the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Malaysia Walid Abu Ali and Ambassador of Egypt Ragai Nasr.
Upon arrival, the wounded were examined and sorted under the supervision of a Malaysian medical team at a field hospital set up at the airport before being transferred to hospitals to complete treatment.
The Malaysian defence minister stressed his country’s support of the Palestinian cause and people in a press conference, especially in light of the ongoing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip for more than ten months. He noted that the initiative by the prime minister and the Malaysian government comes within the framework of alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people.
In turn, Ambassador Abu Ali thanked the Malaysian government and the workers in the Malaysian military medical services sector for providing care and attention to the wounded, adding that the embassy will follow up on the treatment journey of the wounded in Malaysia and provide them with continued care.
