At least 16 more Palestinians were killed in fresh air strikes in the Gaza Strip today as Israel continued its deadly offensive on the enclave, Anadolu has reported.
An Israeli drone strike targeted a house in the southern city of Khan Yunis, killing four people and wounding several others, said a local medical source. Four other people were killed in another air strike in Namsawi neighbourhood west of the city.
Another civilian was killed and several people were injured in an air strike on a car in northern Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, the source pointed out.
The Civil Defence Agency said that three people were killed in Israeli shelling of a group of civilians in the Zeitoun neighbourhood of Gaza City. Medics recovered the bodies of four people after an Israeli air strike on a house in Deir Al-Balah, added the agency.
Israeli forces also shelled refugee tents in Shakoush area, north west of Rafah, according to eyewitnesses. Artillery shelling was reported in eastern Deir Al-Balah and the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza. Several homes also came under Israeli gunfire in the Zeitoun neighbourhood.
Israel is continuing its brutal offensive on Gaza which began after the cross-border incursion by Hamas last October. The onslaught has killed over 40,400 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and wounded nearly 94,000 others, according to local health authorities. Vast tracts of Gaza lie in ruins amid a crippling blockade of food, clean water and medicine.
Israel is accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice for its actions in the blockaded enclave. The apartheid state denies the allegation.
