The Israeli army, on Monday evening, carried out an airstrike on a gathering of people buying bread in front of a displaced Palestinian shelter in the Jabalya Refugee Camp in the northern Gaza Strip, killing at least five and injuring several others, Anadolu Agency reports.

“Five martyrs and others were wounded in an Israeli airstrike on a gathering of people in front of Al-Fakhura School (used as shelter) in Jabalya,” Palestinian Civil Defence spokesman, Mahmoud Basal said in a statement.

A field source told Anadolu that the Israeli air raid targeted a bread-selling point in Jabalya near the shelter school.

Israel’s ongoing war on the Gaza Strip has killed nearly 40,800 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured over 94,200 others, according to local health authorities.

An ongoing blockade of the enclave has led to severe shortages of food, clean water and medicine, leaving much of the region in ruins.

Israel faces accusations of genocide for its actions in Gaza at the International Court of Justice.
