The Israeli occupation forces arrested a Palestine Red Crescent (PRC) volunteer at the Ein Siniya checkpoint near Ramallah, in the central West Bank, on Wednesday evening, the Palestinian Information Centre has reported.

The director of the Palestinian Prisoners Society in Tubas, Kamal Bani Odeh, confirmed that Muhammad Iyad Hussein Daraghmeh, 22, was taken out of the Red Crescent vehicle in which he was travelling and brutally assaulted. The whole PRC crew was detained briefly, he added.

The occupation forces launched a military operation in the West Bank eight days ago, the largest since Operation Defensive Shield in 2002. They have been targeting resistance fighters in Jenin, Tulkarem and Tubas in the occupied West Bank.

According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, “Thirty-three Palestinians have been killed and 140 others have been wounded since the beginning of the operation in the West Bank.”
